Student internship opportunities in digital marketing and visual storytelling
What happens when people who have lived with the pain of loss and trauma for years begin to discover that they may not have to feel this way forever?
At Doing Grief Community Healing Project, we’re witnessing what can happen when people are given new ways to understand their grief, discover how they grieve, and explore what might help them ease their suffering and heal.
Some people come to this work after years of depression, wondering whether they’ll ever feel any better. Through our programs, they begin exploring new possibilities for living with their losses and healing grief-related pain. The work can be greatly uplifting–not because grief disappears, but because people begin to see that there may be ways to live with it differently.
This is why Doing Grief matters to us. And it’s why we’re working to reach more people.
A Growing Mission Needs More Voices
When I began building Doing Grief, I knew this work had the potential to make a difference. Seeing how meaningful it has become for people has only strengthened that belief.
Today, our community is growing. Our board is digging in to strengthen fundraising, and we’re looking at how to share what we’re learning with more people who may need it. I can no longer do every part of this work myself–and I don’t want the story of Doing Grief to depend on one person’s capacity to tell it.
We need storytellers. We need creative minds and fresh perspectives. We need people who can help others see what this work is about and why it matters.
That’s where you might come in.
Could You Help Us Tell This Story?
We’re seeking students who want to put their creativity and skills to work in service of something meaningful. We’re offering two internship opportunities:
Brand & Digital Marketing Intern — Remote
Help us reach more people through social media, digital content, and creative outreach. You’ll help communicate our mission and programs, build awareness, and connect our work with people who may benefit from it.
Visual Storytelling Intern — Hybrid, Sun City and Peoria, Arizona
Help bring the work to life through photography, video, and short-form storytelling. You’ll help capture the people, programs, and meaningful moments that show what a community devoted to grieving and healing can look like.
Both internships offer flexible scheduling, hands-on nonprofit experience, the possibility of academic credit, and free access to small-group and individual grief support as needed. These are unpaid opportunities, with an immediate start and arrangements that can work around academic commitments.
You don’t need to be a grief expert. We’re looking for students with creativity, curiosity, care for others, and a desire to use their skills in work that matters.
Be Part of What Comes Next
Grief touches every life, yet many people have never been taught how to grieve in ways that help them live with loss and change. Doing Grief is working to change that—one person, one gathering, and one new possibility at a time.
If you’d like to help us share this work with the world, we’d love to hear from you.

Know a student who might be a good fit? Please share this opportunity with them.
And if you have marketing skills you’d like to put to meaningful use, we’d love to hear from you, too. We’re building our Doing Grief marketing team and welcome volunteers who want to help us spread the word about this work.
Together, we can help people discover that their grief doesn’t have to be the end of their story—and that healing is possible.
